Best Time to Get Married at Lake Como: Month-by-Month Data, Not Opinions
Everyone has an opinion on Lake Como wedding timing. I have data. After 200+ weddings, I’ve compiled weather records, vendor pricing patterns, venue availability metrics, and tourist density observations into the most complete seasonal guide you’ll find. Every recommendation below is based on measured reality, not marketing.

| June | 25°C | 9 | 7 | Limited | 95 | ★ Excellent — long light, warm |
| July | 28°C | 7 | 9 | Very limited | 100 | Hot + crowded, peak pricing |
| August | 28°C | 8 | 10 | Very limited | 100 | Hottest + most crowded |

(Price Index: 100 = peak pricing, lower = proportional savings)
The Three Golden Months (And Why)

May is my personal favorite. Average 21°C, 8 rain days (comparable to June), but with two massive advantages: spring blooms (azaleas, rhododendrons, wisteria at Tremezzo and Villa Carlotta are peak spectacular) and pricing 15–20% below peak. Venues have better availability, vendors are less stretched, and the tourist crowds haven’t arrived yet. Sunset is after 8:30pm, giving you plenty of daylight for outdoor ceremonies.
June delivers the longest days of the year (sunset after 9pm), warm temperatures perfect for outdoor celebrations, and the full transition into summer energy. The downside: pricing hits near-peak, and venue availability for Saturday dates is limited. Book 18+ months ahead for June Saturdays.
September is statistically the most reliable month: highest average temperature-to-rain ratio, fewest rain days (only 6), tourist crowds easing after Ferragosto (Aug 15), and pricing beginning to soften after mid-September. The light quality in September is softer and warmer than summer — photographers consistently prefer it.
The Truth About July–August

I need to be direct: July and August are not ideal for Lake Como weddings, despite being the most popular months. Here’s why:
Heat: 28–30°C with humidity from the lake. Outdoor afternoon ceremonies (2–4pm) are physically uncomfortable for guests in formal attire. If you insist on summer, schedule the ceremony after 5pm.
Crowds: Tourist density hits 9–10/10. Bellagio’s streets are packed from 10am to 8pm. Public ferries have 30–45 minute queues. Photography in popular locations requires early-morning sessions (before 8am) to avoid crowds in your frames.
Pricing: Everything is at maximum: venues, hotels, vendors, boats, restaurants. No negotiating leverage. The identical wedding in May or September costs 15–25% less.
Afternoon thunderstorms: Brief but intense thunderstorms are common in July–August, typically 2–5pm. They pass quickly (30–60 minutes) but can disrupt outdoor ceremonies if timing isn’t managed carefully.
October: The Secret Month

Early October (first two weeks) is Lake Como’s hidden gem. Temperatures average 18°C — comfortable for outdoor celebrations with a light wrap for evening. Autumn foliage begins on the hillsides, creating a palette of gold, amber, and russet that no summer month can match. Tourist crowds have largely departed. Venue pricing drops 20–30% from peak. And the quality of light — warm, low-angled, golden — is arguably the most beautiful of the entire year.
The trade-off: shorter days (sunset around 6:45pm in early October) mean earlier ceremony timing and less flexibility for golden-hour photography. But for couples who value atmosphere, authenticity, and value over peak-season convenience, October is extraordinary.
